Prague Spring Cello Competition 2012

Since 1946, the Prague Spring International Music Competition is part of the Festival where so many famous musicians get together. This year’s 64th edition of the competition was dedicated to cello and harpsichord.

On the 15th of May the First Prize went to the young French cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière, born in 1990. He also won the prize from the Town of Prague, the prize from the public, and the prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary music piece and of a piece by Martinu.

Since this Summer 2012, Victor Julien-Laferrière plays a cello made for him by Patrick Robin.
